The Lock Up 2.5 Ring Gag from Bomber Bits offers a mild gag action, useful for horses that need a stronger bit than a simple snaffle, particularly suitable for show jumping and cross-country.

The locked central joint and the curved mouthpiece are designed to eliminate the pinching effect typical of a conventional single-jointed snaffle. As a result, this bit applies less pressure on the bars of the horse's mouth when rein aids are applied. The mouthpiece cannot bend beyond a certain point, maintaining a curved shape inside the mouth rather than forming a V-shape that could irritate the horse's upper palate.

The top ring is connected to the cheekpieces to apply poll pressure, causing the horse's head to lower, while the half-ring provides leverage, resulting in a head-raising action. When these two actions combine, the gag effect is produced. The 2.5 ring, also known as a Universal, is the softest version of a gag bit, as the half-ring softens the leverage action on the mouthpiece.
