Gag Bit – Elliptical 2.5 Ring Bomber Bits

The Elliptical 2.5 Ring Gag from Bomber Bits offers a mild gag action, which can be useful for horses that require a stronger bit than a snaffle for show jumping and cross-country. The top ring applies pressure to the poll, causing the horse's head to lower, while the half-ring provides leverage, resulting in a head-raising action. When these two actions are combined, it creates the so-called gag action.

The 2.5 ring, known as Universal, is the mildest version of a gag because the half-ring softens the leverage on the mouthpiece.

The 45mm lozenge in the mouthpiece is designed to help the horse mouth the bit and comfortably relax his jaw. The double joints eliminate the nutcracker action, as the bit stays in a curved shape, following the contours of the horse’s mouth. Therefore, the pressure on the bars and palate, which is common with single-jointed bits, is removed.

The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse’s mouth. This encourages mouthing, salivation, and acceptance of the bit. Please note that the blue will fade with use.
