DERM STOP DERMATITIS TREATMENT LOTION
COMPOSITION
Purified water, lanolin, 25% benzyl benzoate.
INDICATIONS
Derm Stop is a benzyl benzoate-based lotion, a principle useful in the treatment of horses and ponies, affected by Relapsing Summer Dermatitis (DER). This skin pathology, which typically affects equines, is seasonal and allergic-based and is characterized by the appearance of extremely itchy lesions, resulting from the bite of insects, very similar to midges, belonging to the Culicoides genus. The areas most affected are the head, the withers, the shoulders, the rump, the chest, the abdominal region and the base of the tail. The lesions are typical of the allergic reaction: initially small but very itchy papules are formed, which cause the horse to scratch; due to this self-traumatism the lesions worsen, hesitating in alopecic areas or with broken hairs, together with grazes and scabs, which can go on to secondary bacterial infections. The pathology develops mainly in spring and slowly regresses in autumn, but every year it recurs with increasingly accentuated symptomatic pictures.
For prophylactic purposes, in subjects sensitive to DER, it is recommended to start applying the product in the spring before the onset of symptoms, continuing the treatment until the end of the summer.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Benzyl Benzoate in horse DER allows to reduce irritation in the affected areas, to control bacterial infections and to keep insects away, the starting point in the control of pathology.
METHOD OF USE
Spread the product on the areas to be treated, massaging vigorously against the hair, so that the product penetrates the skin. Repeat the treatment 2 times a day during the first week. Progressively reduce the frequency of treatments until you get to a weekly application.
